Bike from the bottom of the paved Norquay Access
Road to ski hill base village. 5.75 km.
Vertical Rise 353m XTERRA athletes may use road, mountain or cyclocross
bikes. The access road is freshly paved all the way to the Mt Norquay ski area parking lot. Riders will continue
cycling through the unpaved lot to the ski base village. Due to the early spring race date there
is a slight possibilty for snow on the roadway and a higher probability for snow throughout the upper parking
lot. Select your bike most suited to actual roadway conditions present on race morning. Note:
the roadway will not be closed to traffic.

Transition
to Uphill Grind - Climb From Mt Norquay ski area base (via Shenanigan & Lone Pine) to top of North
American Chair Lift. 1.00 km. Vertical Rise 400m Your
choice of skis, snowshoes, runners, yacktracks, spikes (or similar) and/or hikers. Ski pole use is recommended
and encouraged.

Transition to Downhill Ski - Descend from top of North American Chair
Lift (via the North American and Shenanigan ski runs) to finish line at ski area base. 1.5 km. Vertical Descent 400m Important Safety Note:
The downhill ski section of this event is categorized as BLACK
DIAMOND and is suitable for EXPERT SKIERS only. Choose the race category to SNOWSHOE DOWN on the registration form if you are unsure of your EXPERT skiing ability. The Snowshoe descent will follow the exact same route as the Snowshoe ascent. Snowshoe use is mandatory
for this category. Turnaround point will be located at the top of the North American chair lift. Your choice of downhill skis,
telemark skis or snow board - The XTERRA giant slalom course will traverse the fall line with numerous switch
backs designed to reduce speed for safety reasons.
