The Grizzly Ultra kicks off with the toughest of all 5 legs with a total elevation gain of 510 metres over a distance of 12km. Lynx includes plenty of technical single track with roots, rocks, steep descents and gruelling climbs earning a 5 Claw difficulty rating.

Runners will begin by navigating the 'Get In' trail to Lynx and onto the Wax Test Loop. From the Wax Test Loop it's on to Dipped Cone and Soft Yogurt before descending the treacherous Devonian Drop. After succesfully negotiating the Drop competitors will join the enchanted Orchid Trail to connect with EKG and Salt Lake. From Salt Lake runners will descend the infamous Georgetown Climb to the lowest point on the course at 1,350 metres. Now begins the steep, technical scramble up the Coal Chutes to connect back with EKG and onto Salt Lake. More climbing ensues by switchbacking up Matching Jerseys to the Banff Loop and onto Banff Trail. Looping back on Banff Trail for one final steep climb on Coyote to the high point on this leg at 1,540 metres. From here it's mostly downhill for the final 2 km joining Olympic Trail for a stadium finish. Click here for more details.

Leg 2 has been ranked the 2nd most challenging with 4 Claws. Cougar is non-technical incorporating wide double track trail. However, due to the 12 km distance including 385 metres elevation gain it still presents a breathtaking challenge.

Climbing Olympic, King Of Sweden, Meadow View and Rundle, runners will bag significant elevation gain inside the first 2 km. Meadow View will reward competitors with stunning views high above the Bow Valley. Click here for more details.

Grey Wolf will lead runners along Banff Trail for the longest leg of the Grizzly Ultra. Connecting from Banff Trail onto Bow Trail for a quick out and back section on Cold Shoulder before continuing on Bow Trail  and Grey Wolf to re-join Banff Trail. Enjoy the gradual descent of the last 2 km on Banff Trail to the start/finish Stadium. A fast, non-technical leg for those with plenty of endurance. Click here for more details.

After ascending Centennial and EKG East trails participants will claw their way up the Killer Bee and Back Door climbs. Nector Noode descends steeply before joining the Albertan. Swamp leads to a short sprint on Meadowview to join King Of Sweden. More single track will challenge on EKG which feeds into EKG East. Enjoy Mad Handler and Hey Mcleod before taking Centennial into the stadium. Don't be fooled by the 2 claw rating, Killer Bee packs a sting with lots of technical single track. Watch for roots, rocks and fun drops.

Solo participants will need to save some juice for the 5 km and 215 metres on Coyote while sprinters can bring their teams home with good speed on this final leg. Coyote feeds into EKG with spectacular views of the Bow Valley from the Meadow before diving back into technical single track to join Silvertip. From the 3 km mark Silvertip delivers a rollercoaster of a challenge before re-joining Coyote and Olympic to finish.
