The Golden Triangle Cycling tour takes place in some of the most incredibly scenic locations in the world. The ride passes through three different National Parks (Banff, Kootenay, and Yoho).
Tour fee includes luggage transportation, sag wagon support and snack stops.
There will be a lead vehicle providing express transportation of luggage to our destination motel as well as a 7 passenger sweeper/support van.
The sweeper van will gladly pick riders opting for shorter daily ride distances.
Drivers Wanted - Contact tony@smithevents.ca if you're interested in helping out with driving support in exchange for a heavily discounted tour fee.
This tour is limited to first 30 riders to register.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1 - 162km. Canmore - Golden.
Depart Canmore, Alberta from the Canmore Recreations Centre at 9a.m. Ride the new Legacy Trail (paved) through Banff National Park to connect with the Bow Valley Parkway (Highway 1a) to Lake Louise. From Louise the climbing begins through Yoho National park to Field. The tour will re-group in Field for lunch, water, Gatorade and snacks will be provided before the long descent into the Town of Golden, B.C. We'll be staying at Mary's Motel. Participants are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodations in Golden.
Day 2 - 103km. Golden - Radium.
By tradition, Tony is usually able to convince a few other nut bars to rise early and run from Town up to Kicking Horse Ski Resort before riding this relatively 'easy' 100km day. Spinning through the flat Columbia River Valley with stunning views of the Kootenays is always a special treat on day 2. There are no significant climbs today. Tour riders will re-group at the 50km point. Water, Gatorade and snacks will be provided. We stay at the Cedar Motel in Radium. Riders are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodations for the night in Radium.
Day 3 - 160km. Radium - Canmore.
Our final day begins with a long steep, challenging climb out of Radium on Highway 93. Our mid-day break will take place at Vermillion Crossing with water, Gatorade and snacks provided. The climbing continues over Vermillion Pass and Storm Mountain before descending to Castle Junction on Highway 1. We'll rejoin the Bow Valley Parkway to connect, once again with the Legacy Trail to Canmore.
Canmore's Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge is offering all participants and family preferred rates. Mention SMITH EVENTS when making your reservations to qualify for room rate discounts.
